BW1 Unlimited Wood Cheat?

I wanted to use the cheat where you hit the action button with the miracle in your hand on the store entrance and you get tons of wood or food but since i installed with patch it doesn't work for me.

I'm on the 5th land anyway and its hard AF to find any wood, trees or food to expand my villages.

I went into the file and changed my TELEPORT to ...

CREATE_NEW_TOWN_SPELL(0, "WOOD")

but nothing happened

am i doing something wrong?

I think I found that I had to add the wood to the other Norse village, the one with the lightning that is built if you help the people with the boat in the first land.

If you didn't help them then you're gonna need to add it to the tibetch town.

tried switching out the lightning and the script just isnt updating or something because the lightning is still there

Do you edit the file and was already in land 5? Because when you change something in the mapfile, you have to restart this map from beginning.

Hi, I want to use the unlimited food and wood trick too and can’t do it. Can anyone help. Not computer savvy so simple instructions would be awesome. Thank you

Just some advice for your next playthrough: take food and wood from land 4 to the vortex (maaaany wood and food) and a bunch of food and wood miracles. And some artifacts.
Then don't use the miracles until you finished a big north wonder (best to maximize the wonder with an artifact) and if done correctly enjoy 150k+ wood per miracle. So no need for cheating
A savegame BEFORE entering the vortex on every land is another thing that can save many hours of re-play...

Hi everyone, just wondering whether this was ever resolved? I really liked using the unlimited food and wood trick but it doesn't seem to be available anymore. Is is possible to get the game working on windows 10/11 without the patches?

I'm going to leave this here for anyone who stumbles upon it moving forward. If you applied any patches, this exploit will no longer work. However, you can get a similar effect by editing the Land files in the Script folder and putting in a little in-game work. This must be done *BEFORE* you travel to the next land. Open a Land file with any txt editor, and look for the "PLAYER_ONE" section. That's you. Find the line that looks like this: CREATE_TOWN(0, "3231.53,3396.45", "PLAYER_ONE", 7, "NORSE"). The NORSE part will be different for a few of the Land files; change it to Norse. Whenever I start a fresh profile, I go through all the land files and change my starting town to Norse. I also change the town spells, making sure I have Food, Wood, and Flying_Flock (for impressing towns). Make sure you save the Land file before you close it. Upon loading into the level, my first priority is getting a Norse Wonder built and exploding the population by making a ton of male breeders so I have spare population to stay at the worship site 24/7. Rinse and repeat until I have at least 5 or 6 wonders built, as the effect stacks. This will net ~10k wood per cast. Food gets a boost as well. I'm not 100% sure what dictates what wonder you'll get when placing a 7 scaffold. I want to say it's population but I have not tested it as by the time I'm getting different wonders, I'm satisfied with my wood miracle yield. Influence may determine the size of the wonder and the yield per cast, but I've not tested it. The only way to get that exploit back is to buy an old PC with XP already installed, or if you have a 2013 or older PC, try to set up XP on it yourself to play B&W unpatched. I don't recommend trying to install XP on any PC built after 2010 unless you have the patience of a saint and the technical know-how because it's not an easy thing to do. I hope someone finds this info useful.
