Please Help?!

I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I'm having or at least tell me what it is thats causing it.

I have black and white installed on my computer and for some reason in the first land right after the temple is built the screen freezes up and then it turns black. i have to exit because i cant get it to come back.

Also there is no detail in the temple everything is black except for the map and the lights.

i have windows xp and i have tried to play it both with the patches and without.

My cd is scratched in a few spots and i wasn't sure if that was it or not.

If anyone knows what might be wrong please let me know.

Usually when the CD is scratched you'll get an error on installing.

Are your video drivers current?

Have you ever been able to play the game?

One thing to try, especially if you can get the CD cleaned, is do is to backup any profiles using BWBackup. Uninstall the game and delete all of the files and folders in the game directory except for the  Data\Landscapes, Scripts\Creaturemind and Scripts\playgrounds folders. Empty the recycle bin and then do a defrag of the drive the game is in. Then  reinistalll the game, patch it to V1.20 and finally restore the profiles.
