Playing as Good, I've come up against a problem in Land 9: my city keeps getting overrun by the Aztecs. I've forgotten how I beat them before. Any hints would be appreciated.
I have BW1 installed on Windows 7 and the creatures unlocked for me. But that was after I installed the game in the directory suggested by Sylcai in the pinned thread above. And I have both Patch 1.1 and Patch 1.2 installed.
Are you running Vista? You might want to look at this thread, which is about Windows 7, but I understand the fix suggested here would also work for Vista.

After installing in a folder I created called C:\Users\Public\Games\Black and White, and installing both patches, my version number now shows up as V1.20, and the save game problem seems to be solved. I should also have mentioned that I had to do a direct copy of the audio files from the CD to...
Well, I just found that out the hard way, starting up the game after a break, it wiped all my save games and left me at the beginning of Land 2. :(
I will try uninstalling and reinstalling in the directory Sylcai suggested and see what that does.
EDIT: It will install there, but not in its...
Tried running it as an administrator and still got V1.00. But the game works, so that's not a problem. Something that I noticed after arriving at Land 2: I changed my symbol to a heart, and then on Land 2, it started out as the two circles that is the default symbol. I changed it back to a...
Well, I thought I would install BW2 as well and see how that worked. So far I have found out the following:
1. The Tiger Unlocker has the same problem as Vista (I thought 7 was supposed to fix Vista's problems :laugh2). The solution is to edit your registry as described in this thread...
Decided to install BW1 on my computer that is running Windows 7. At first I had a problem with the game not saving, but I uninstalled and reinstalled and that seems to be fixed. Now I installed both Patch 1.1 and 1.2, but my game still shows V1.00 on the screen when you start the game. Both...
I have finished the second Japanese land with a city that I'd like to make a screen capture of, but when I try to use SnagIt (which I have used before) I can't get it to do a screen capture with BW2 maximized and SnagIt running. It used to do it with the Print Screen button. Does the new...
I was reloading the game (didn't want to have to run the creature all the way from my temple to the fight area, which is all the way on the other side of the land). Once I stopped doing that, it took me three tries to win the fight.
I've finally reached the "mirror" creature fight in my latest game of BW1, and I can't seem to beat it. I know that you have to heal your creature many times as the mirror creature does so, but it seems that I get to a point where the heal miracle no longer works and my creature's life scale...
Messing around with BW1, I got to the Shaman challenge and tried depopulating the village. First, I raised the totem to 100% and sent all the villagers to the worship site. Then, one by one, I relocated them to other villages. When I went back to the town, the town center said "0 Belief Left"...
Put me down as liking BW2's creature better. I got frustrated trying to train creatures in BW1 (especially for multiplayer) and in the single person game, I used the creature as sparingly as possible. I liked the BW2 creature interface exactly because you could control it completely. I have a...
I used to bomb my own temple just to see that happen. The Evil Advisor says (I think), "OK, we're dead. We're all dead." And the Good Advisor says, "I just hate goodbyes."
