Huh, I never knew those gates could be used to cheat. I've known about the other shortcut for forever, but the town one is new to me.
I guess I know what they're for now. Thanks guys.
Yeah, I was already considering using VirtualBox. I was just hoping there was a way around it.
It's really too bad multiplayer doesn't work, because everything else works for me in Windows 7. Oh well.
Thanks for the answer.
I think they may be cosmetic, because I just tried having both my Creature and Tyke walk near it, and nothing happened. I also had my Creature interact with the Gates, but nothing happened.
Maybe you have to beat a certain Trial first. Or all of the Trials.
I don't think the Gate Stones would...
While playing Creature Isle, I noticed the gates from Land 1 in Black & White. They are over by the Celtic village, Gate Stone Pedestal and all.
Is there a way to open them in Creature Isle? If so, does opening them even do anything? Or are they just there because Lionhead felt like putting...
That's awesome, AppleApe. I think that would be a really neat mod. Although, I usually just race through Land 3 to get my Creature back anyway. Still, I'd appreciate the tweak in the game.
You're probably more of an expert than I am. Like I said, I'm more of a mapper than a modder.
Let me know...
Huh. I use Maximum and it seems to look better to me than Custom with all of the settings maxed. Maybe it's just me.
Most people install Black & White in anywhere but Program Files, like C:\Games or whatever. My game, however, is installed in Program Files and the single-player campaign works...
I could make the map too, but I'd rather have my Creature in the actual campaign than just in a skirmish mimicking it.
Maybe the executables would run in Wine?
If you're interested in using the mod programs, it's worth checking.
Yeah, I believe you can play all of the story lands in Skirmish mode if you download the maps.
I was just hoping I could keep my Creature on Land 3 because the fact that I don't have him on that Land makes it my least favorite.
That would be a cool mod if someone could do it. Unfortunately, I...
Hmm. I believe I recall reading in the "Black & White in Windows 7" thread something about using the "Custom Detail" setting rather than "Maximum Detail." So, my only remaining idea is to have setup save your settings as "Custom Detail," and you can of course check all of the boxes and move all...
For my computer? No, Black & White works on my computer without any fiddling. I just know that in order for setup.exe to save your settings, it must be run with administrator privileges.
I would definitely use administrator rights, and if that doesn't work, then try the other compatibility...
If I recall correctly, you have to run "setup.exe" with administrator privileges. What I did was run setup with administrator rights, set the graphics to Maximum Detail and 32-bit color, and then change the registry for widescreen. That's what works for me.
My brother and I both play Black & White, and we have enjoyed playing the multiplayer over our LAN connection in the past. We recently tried again, only to find that we cannot change any of the condition variables and they are all stuck at 51. (i.e. Build 51 settlements as a victory condition.)...
Awhile ago, I recall reading a trick on this site to keep your Creature on Land 2 and be able to use him on Land 3. The steps were something like this:
1. Get Lethys's last two towns down to very low belief
2. Slow down time and use P to pause and take both towns at virtually the same time
3...
Sure. Just go to the downloads section you want to upload to (in this case, B&W1 Ape skins) and click submit a file in the top box area. After that, just fill in the boxes and upload your file. Do this while you're logged in to link it to your account.
I can help you upload it. Go to the Downloads part of the site that you want to upload it to (like Other Tools) and click submit a file in the top box area. It's pretty self-explanatory after that.
Neat tool. It lets you get widescreen resolutions in a much easier way than manually editing the...
I Googled around and tried to find you any sort of help - nothing, sorry.
You could search your computer for .erc files? If you can at least find where they are then you may be able to fix it.
