A fun note i've found about the vagrants (or at least the throwing stones one) is if you throw him at the rock on the piller and hit it off, he usually goes into the water. If you start another quest while hes in the water he ends up dead, but not quite... You can pick him out of the water after...

--Almost forgot, also when i try to save or when it auto saves, the save game room doesnt show it. Im not sure if the problems are related but i thought it might be worth mentioning.. Thanks again.
