It sounds like you've tried most of the common remedies. Re-installing the game is usually the next step
This utility will backup all essential folders and registery keys so you can restore your game.

Yes, it is more complex than BW2. You can't just set the level you wish him to be at.
In BW1 there's no set scale and a creature will always be learning. Mostly from what you teach him and from what he sees you doing. They also learn by themselves and can surprise you with the things they do...
Creature training in BW1 is much different than for BW2. It's more like training a pet. Your creature will learn from watching you. So make sure that he is paying attention to you when you are showing him something.
Don't ever punish or reward past 100%. Here's a a guide which should be of some...
To teach him to dance, let him watch the villagers at the alter. It also takes a while for them to get into dancing.
Does he know and use the heal miracle?
One thing to try is to use my my training map and to spend some time showing him how to use miracles.
He should start to grow immediately. But I forget if the same rules apply as in B&W where he stops growing rapidly at the age of 18
I've always started CI with a full grown and trained creature so I don't know (or forget) the growth rate of one's creature in CI.
Yah, debugging B&W is a pain since there's no way to output an error so you can see what the problem is.
You don't need a town affiliation for CREATE_VILLAGER_POS. But there should be an adobe very close by for them to occupy. They will then be a part of that village...
Hi, glad to see that there's still an interest in BW1 mapping. :)
I don't see any obvious errors in that script.
What to do is to break a line up in the middle of the coordinates. What this does is to stop the map from loading and starts the game. If the game crashes, the poblem is before that...
What happens on Land 4? Or what problems are you having?
Have you tried it with a new profile?
Here, I've also included the .chl file which goes into the Scripts/BW2 folder. You do need to start the the land (or maybe the game) for it to take effect.

In Windows Exporer, right click on that drive, choose Properties and then Tools. You should see the option there.
What happens is that windows gets lazy and doesn't really delete files. It just hides them. So when doing a reinstall, if it finds a file on the drive already, it will just unhide...
What's the matter with your game?
Have you tried a clean install? Backup any important folders, uninstall the game, delete all of the folders, do a defrag of the drive the game is installed in and then re-install it.
If you're still on land 1. Take him to the water's edge by your temple and first leash him to a fisherman so he can learn to fish.
When he gets hungry, about 55%, take him to the fish farms and click in the fish. He should then pick up the fish. Rub his tummy to encourage him to eat. When he...
Yep, it don't work.. :rolleyes
I installed BoTG, choose a map, changed the names of the files to match the BoTG format, Started a new game, went through the introduction stuff and then it crashed to the desktop.
I played around with several configurations to no avail. :(
I don't have BoTG installed to check but I think there were a few small differences.
You will need to add the map files to the BoTG/Data/landscapes folder.
