It's a bit outdated and if you don't have Photoshop, GIMP and paint.net are able to handle .dds files. (Google those names)
Or convert them to .png and then back again.

But try using the 1.30 patch. You will get a missing dll error. Google it and you should be able to find it. Place in in the windows/system32 folder.

When I heard that PBnW was to be closed down I took the liberty of ripping a few of the more popular site suspecting that they might be missed.

There's not many tutorials for BW1 map making. The best way to start is to download load the BWExpressMapEditor and start using it. It does have the scripting guide buit in but it might be usefull to download that also. Other tools can be found on this page...
